Default Cali Gold

I bought a Cali Gold from Florida Hill Nursery around June 2013

This is what it looks like right now? Are those red colors normal, what I think is an Orinoco in my yard never had them?

I bought 5 varieties from Florida Hill I pray that they are what they were labeled as...

Share some of that rain with us here in Southern California.

I am on well water and they need to be recharged after two years of way below normal rain.

Thanks,

Eddie Munoz

So now two nurseries that get all their TC'S from Agri-start are selling California Gold. Agri-starts does not sell California Gold that I see. What's up ?

If I were you, I would spend my shipping money on gas and look for some nice size healthy pups that will be what their name claims to be. There are lots of bananas.org members here in SoCal that will provide you with some excellent plants.
Florida Hill nursery ?!
Sorry, not what you had asked for in your post, but if you are in the San Diego area I would definitely share one or the other pup with you.

That's not CA Gold. If you're lucky it might be Kru. Dwarf Red is darker than what's on the picture. Some vendors sell Dwarf Orinoco as CA Gold, e.g., Green Earth, etc. But that's not even an Orinoco.

I agree with Crazy Banana's comments.

FHN doesn't list CaliGold, so you must have placed the order for that plant with GreenEarth (who does list it).

I guess I will have to wait and see if it fruits for me and see what it is..

I checked my emails and it was Greenearth I got Cali gold, williams, grand nain, and gros michel which died (my dog marked its territory on the gros michel).

Another error gros michel was from FHN...

I am assuming it's more tender and treat it so.

It's Dwarf Red. There's nothing else available in the US that is a dwarf and that red. Kru is no dwarf -- it would have longer petioles.

Thanks, I will treat it as a dwarf red.

Lets see if it survives, I get a lot of nights in the low 40's and or high 30's in winter time.

You will see some degrading due to those temps especially if its windy, but if its not an extended period I think you may be ok, or you can protect it @ those times.. :^)

Greenearth sells dwarf red so they must have gotten their hands crossed.

Just got a replacement plant from Ted at Greenearth.

He says there is no true Cali Gold. So I am not sure what he just sent me.

Going to post the pic in my folder since I can seem to do put the pic in this thread.
