Chundillakkannan
Here are some photos of Chundillakannan fruit. Earlier I started a thread about this banana plant. I was trying to find out about similar bananas or the same banana with a different name exists in any part of the world. This time I got the photos.

The tip of the fruit bunch look like a flower. All the flowers are developed in to fruit. That means all of them are female flowers. But some times, especially if the plant is not very healthy it will produce one or two hands of male flowers are at the end. Those will give tip to the fruit bunch. My friend give me a sucker last year. This pics are from my friend's property at Parkland florida. This banana is known for one of the best tasting banana in southern Indian state of Kerala. Wonderful cultivar! Its quite weird there is no visible aborted growing tip.

Great shots, thanks for news about this cultivar. Any idea how it does against BBTV? It would be easy to believe it is in the "tall Brazilian" (eg "apple" to us Hawaiian growers) family based on fruit appearance and what you said about good tasting. Our tall apple bananas get the virus, but not nearly as easily as some other varieties.

Very nice pictures. Now, if this thing is reasonably cold tolerant, and the fruit tastes good, it should be a winner.

What's the coldest weather there in Parkland since your friend has been growing it? I went and looked at Wunderground history for the past five winters and it looks like it got 34F on 12/14/2010 and 1/10/2010. Needs to be tested in a colder region!
