Looks normal for So Cal. Bananas tend to reduce the number of leaves when the weather cools off (and they are entering dormancy) which may be some form of accelerated senescence in the older leaves.
The same affect happens if they are a bit underwatered or the humidity drops real low, which is also typical of So Cal this time of the year.
