Corm Weavers
My friend has Corm Weavers on some of his Bananas, does anyone know of a way to get ride of them? He said there is none that he knows of. He said the best defence is to dig up a good tree, and move it 20 feet away and it will survivie and start over, but about ever 8 years the corm weavers will find your plants. I keep thinking that there has to be a way to get ride of them. How else could the have Banana Farms in place for 20+ years?

Re: Corm Weavers
Quote:
The corm weevil, grubs bore through the corm. Traps must be set out to catch weevils. Clean up any dead debris, dead leaves, anything that is rotting near the plant should be removed. This can be difficult. A much easier way is to use Diazinon. Diazinon spray should be used at the base of the plants and around the ground between them. Please try to keep animals or pets away for several hours after application. Clean area, spray, keep clean of rotting debris, dead leaves. Good Luck to you and your friend!!!!

Re: Corm Weavers
Liqui-Cop is widely available and can be used on edible fruits. Follow the directions for soil drench, more is not better!
