Heh Banana experts,
I just took an update picture of fruit on my Lady Finger banana and noticed a couple bananas with black spots on them.

Is this normal?

Here's a picture showing the fruit development as of today. Do they look healthy and maturing as expected?

Can you post a close-up pic of the bunch? Several of the fingers appear to have back ends; can't tell from this picture. ... Do any of the 'young' leaves show any symptoms, brown edges???

At this stage of growth, it is easy for the plant to have depleted the available micro-elements. What fertilizer have you applied and when?

I use Stokes Banana Fertilizer + Black Kow composted cow manure. I last fertilized a couple weeks ago.

I downloaded and enlarged the pic. It's not close nor clear enough.

A number of fungus will enter a banana thought the finger bloom. Several of the fingers appeared to have black extending down the finger a little more than normal. (???) Even as a precautionary measure, it would not hurt to spray the bunch and top of the pstem with a fungicide (copper ??).

Your plant looks healthy, but you haven't answered my question about brown edges on young leaves. ... A plant under stress due to lack of nutrients or other causes is more susceptible to fungus and diseases. You applied fertilizer a couple of weeks ago but can take weeks before the plant can take-up and utilize it. ... I suggest a folar spray of 1% potassium sulphate (about 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 oz per gal of water) once a week for 3 or 4 weeks. The potassium is immediately available and again this can't hurt and precautionary.

Actually if instead of downloading, you just mouse click the picture once, let it open and click it again, the pic will get larger than most PC screens. Lots of detail, that¡s how I noticed the spots.

Either way is the same. I can actually enlarge the picture bigger than the gallery.

I do see the spots on the lower fingers, but I also saw a couple of upper fingers that appeared to have black extending down the finger a little more than normal. Also, saw a leaf with brown/black edges but can not determine if that leaf is an older or young leaf; or if it is on the same plant. There is a cigar leaf with brown/black tip.

While these symptoms are indicative of a possible potassium - calcium deficiency there is not enough info to be definitive of that determination; nor about a possible fungus infection. My suggestions above are just being proactive before these become a bigger problem.

Potassium sulphate is available as granular/powder. You can mix your own spray. Fungicides are available at garden centers.
