Default Crooked banana leaf

I have a question. I have a Dwarf Maoli (if it's a Dwarf I am 9 feet tall) This is a vigorous grower. I planted a smaller sized plant in Feb of this year and right now it is 8 feet tall. Big huge leaves. The plant has had no issues and in fact is one of my best plants. About a month ago the new leaves that are sent up are crooked at the end like a shepherds hook instead of being straight. The leaves have a hard time unrolling. This only started about a month or so ago. Up to that point no issues. Nothing has changed that I can think of. The plant is shooting up a new leaf about every 5 days or so. Still growing like crazy, and everything looks healthy. Ideas?

All suggestions and help are greatly appreciated.

this problem was just discussed in the thread [banana with leaf problems]. it was diserned that it might be a calcium deficiency. lime was the answer. lime has calcium in it.

I read that thread. Good information but I decided to not use lime. My PH is low to begin with and I didn't want it to go any lower. I bought a bag of bone meal. Calcium and phosphorus. It is in a ground up powder form. I sprinkled just a little bit and worked it into the soil. Time will tell.

What about gypsum for calcium deficiency? My understanding is that it is ph neutral to the soil.

Not sure where you would get gypsum. I knew bone meal would have calcium, but I didn't realize it would have phosphorus as well. I only sprinkled it lightly since this was a trial run. The new leaf that has come up I was able to reach it is it came out and manually straighten it. I must admit it was not as crooked as the others have been. Either the bone meal is working or the plants has "grown" out of it's problem. That new leaf unrolled today and looks good. I will see what the next one looks like.
