Yeah a week or two ago I bought a Mysore and a Pisang Raja from Lowe's. They didn't have the Veinte. I'll have to check again. I figure for $7 I'll try it. I know they might not be the varieties listed but worth a shot.

I think they supplied my DC and pomegranate which both came from Lowes last Mother's Day. (If not, someone's pots sure look the same.) After a 3 year gardening "drought", I'm itching to buy plants and willing to lose my nails digging. My spreadsheets including suppliers and such are highly detailed and very precise. Need dirt!

I was wondering how long it would take for someone here that sells banana plants to send one of their friends to say something negative about the information I'm sharing.

It's so funny!

I'll ask who did that but don't expect a reply. Yesterday at Lowes they were selling 2 gallon bananas on the discount isle for $6.49. There were 3 bananas with no indication if they produced fruit. Sure they looked really good but, as I'm learning here, bananas can produce edible fruit or just be ornamental. Far from being an expert, for $3 I'd take a chance on what I was buying but that extra $3.49 (plus tax) turned me off.

If the plant doesn't have a label then don't buy it.

If you look closely at the pics below you can see that each plant has a tough plastic label wrapped around the p-stem all of the banana plants I've seen maybe 100 at four different Lowes are from the same distributor Dewar Nurseries they have the same label design and colorful pots.

If you're uncertain which banana plants to buy then maybe you should buy plants from bananimal and Abnshrek I've heard they sell fat sword suckers.

Too bad you haven't seen them yet at a lowe's store near you.

My friend that lives in Texas said they had Veinte Cohol, Mysore and Kandarian.

I picked up an ARH at one of our Lowes from the same outfit - same style of tag. Didn't see these other varieties. The mango selections are still pretty skimpy. Gotta go down to West Palm Beach. Lots of nurseries.

Was there yesterday at Excalibur looking for a special Vietnamese mango --- Xoai Cat Hoa Loc. They had 2 left in 3 gal pots. Grabbed one and will grow it out in a pot till it gets some size. Still want a 7 or 15 gal size.
