Default Do I need to brace this?

Hello,

My bananas are growing like gangbusters. They are doing extremely well. See the photo. The one that has bananas is the one I started with, the one next to it that is taller and just bloomed is a pup!

Should I brace the one on the right? I've seen people talk about bracing for pots, but not sure if I need to here. I braced the one on the left at first but it didn't seem like it needed it, so I took it away and it's been fine.

Some varieties need it and others do not. Usually that is determined by previous experience with your particular variety. Your's does not look like it will need it, but if it starts to lean, better safe than sorry.

Thanks! And that looks like a great little brace you made there.

I wasn't able to pull up your photo, so I can't comment on your particular situation. However here is my experience: I have had several bananas with fruit that didn't look like they needed bracing ... until a big wind storm came along. So after having had a few plants blow over in storms, I now brace them all. It's extra work, but I haven't had a single braced plant blow over.

Thanks yeah, it's better safe than sorry. Maybe I'll build a brace like that PVC one.

Whelp... it started to lean. I hope I did this right. I used 1 inch PVC. it doesn't feel super stable and I just cradled it under that flower. Not sure how I'm supposed to use this rig.

This time I was able to pull up your picture. It looks like you positioned the brace properly. If 1" PVC feels unstable, next time you might want to upgrade to 2 inch PVC.
