Re: dog ate my banana tree
The cat took the leaves off my ice cream just like that ~13 months ago. She made it just fine. This year the wild ducks are doing it. repeatedly.

Re: dog ate my banana tree
Now this is weird, so far happened only a couple of times; the friggin' wildboard will chomp the middle of a small 'naner and then leave it be. The corm looks good. But...the bloody hell is that the plant and corm dies off later a month or so... Don't tell me there some 'naner killing enzyme in the wildboars' saliva???

Re: dog ate my banana tree
Oh my talk about fate.
I have been battling my siam ruby for probably 9 months. I could never get it past a foot tall or so and maybe 3-4 leaves. FINALLY this spring it had been doing awesome. Bunch of leaves, growing great (I have it in a large pot since I couldn't get it going in the ground). I set it down to water yesterday, turned my back and SHE destroyed it.

Re: dog ate my banana tree
For what it's worth Last year i ended up putting a tomato cage around both outdoor basjoos. This year with so many plants, an inexpensive roll of green wire fence can be put around the bases and will keep most dogs away. Since it's dark green I tend to not notice it , at least not as much as a broken p-stem.

Re: dog ate my banana tree
Cheryl - she didn't do it ! I can tell by her sweet and innocent expression! Haha! half our garden is fenced off with ugly chicken wire to stop our dogs rampaging through the tender plants while they chase next doors cat along the wall. But relief is at hand as I have bought an electronic dog fence yet to be installed. Hopefully the results will be what I expect - but watch this space.....

Re: dog ate my banana tree
Hi All,
Abbey is the biggest LOVE hound!! She isn't a barker, so in that I'm thankful! BUT the kittens don't get any rest when she's in the yard & she even ate a TOMATO!!! The fencing is working for the moment, so I hope it continues! She must be practicing some control, lol...she has left my potted bananas alone. Go figure! ~Cheryl
