Dwarf Jamacian Red or Cardaba?
My local nursery(not a big box but a good nursery) has Dwarf Jamacian Red and Musa Plantano Cardaba. Would those be good choices? I looked up the Red and it looked beautiful in the pictures on the internet. Does anyone have any experience with these and the fruit? I want one that is a good producer and has exellent tasting fruit.

I dont grow Cardaba but I can tell you Jamaican Red is an excellent choice.

Re: Dwarf Jamacian Red or Cardaba?
Very interesting Jarred the way they change colour from purplish to green to sunset colours. My early fruit are dark maroon almost purple, much darker than the photo but the male flowers are hanging on the same.
Jen - my first fruit on the jamaican red are not ripe so I can't help you there, but the whole plant is stunning!! Cassie |

Re: Dwarf Jamacian Red or Cardaba?
Agree Cassie! They start out green even for a day or so before turning the deep red/purple color, then get a little greener, then again they turn the sunset orange/red colors.
Everyone should keep in mind the cut bunch is hanging upside down.

Re: Dwarf Jamacian Red or Cardaba?
Wow...those are amazing pics. It makes me want to drive back right now! I wonder how much the dward would differ??? Maybe smaller fruit production and fruit?
They are so pretty and different looking. I think I might go for it. Heck I will be tearing out my other trees next week to make room for more bananas so I might as well get them both. hee hee No I'm kidding. I'm only getting one! Jen |

Dwarf would just be a smaller tree as far as I know! You know you are going to get them both - don't you!!

Re: Dwarf Jamacian Red or Cardaba?
Oh you are all too funny. I did end up getting the jamacain red and I chickend out on the other because of size. I'm really limited and I felt like I needed a dwarf this time. Thanks for the info and the laughs.
