Thanks for posting! Also, interesting setup. What type of banana is in the 3rd picture? I saw one like that for sale this weekend but alas I was already buying too much. Are those all inside? And is that your place in CO or FL? Anyway, nice growing!

Very cool photos, Gabe.
I see an AE AE! Where did you get it? They had Lasiocarpa at the local Home Depot recently, many of them with their yellow bloom and throwing a dozen or two pups. What kelvin lamps do you use, and are they MH, HPS, or what? You must have some electric bill.

Yes I do have Ae Ae (although I have a few more much rarer Musa plants and seeds), I got it for free from some really nice lady, I still dont know why exactly she wanted to do that, but Im sure happy about it! Its even larger then in that picture but as I said above much of the plants have grown a lot since these pictures. I actually was awarded a $1750 grant from my school district to get most of my stuff (including those lights and a few more plants), so I got those lights. They are actually High Output Flourescent with 8 3000K (i think) blue specturm lights, I was going to mix them with 6500K red's but the grow store where I got them suggested that I go with all blue since they are just suppplemental lights and Im not using them as full term lighting. If you want to look them up they are the Tek-Light T5-48 High Output Flourescent from Sunlight Suppy Company. The electric bill is not that bad (and Im only 16 so my parents pay it anyway, hahaha!), but if I had that much going with HID lighting then Id probly have a problem.
Just in case if anyone is curious, here is a list of what I currently have banana wise... Plants that are in my collection...(in no particular order) Musa muluensis Musa rubinea Musa yunnanensis Musa basjoo Musa coccinea Musa siamensis Musa beccarii Musa mannii Musa velutina Musa cheesmani Musa sikkimensis 'Red Tiger'-( I doubt there is any difference however) Musa laterita Musa hybrid 'Royal Purple' Musa hybrid 'Lavendar Beauty' Musa hybrid 'Milky Way' Musa (sp?, hyb?) 'New Bhutan' Musa 'Rose' Musa 'Ae Ae' Musa 'SDC' Musella lasiocarpa Ensete sp. 'Thai superbum' When I get back from Florida I have waiting for me... Musa 'African Red' Musa 'California Gold' Musa mannii x ? Musa 'Gran Nain' x acuminata subsp. zebrina Currently I'm trying seeds of... Musa monticola Musa ingens Musa lawitiensis Musa campestris var. lawasensis Musa campestris var. limbangensis Musa rubinea Musa cheesmani Musa sikkimensis 'Red Tiger' Musa yunnanensis Musa thomsonii Musa itinerans var. gigantea Musa nagensium Musa beccarii Musa textilis Musa velutina Musa laterita Musa balbisiana Musa 'New Bhutan' Musa 'Royal Purple' Ensete sp. aff. superbum 'Thai superbum' And I think thats it : )
