Five foot tall hard stalk/stem, bare root
We planted this banana (bajoo) a couple weeks ago and it's progressing nicely with a new leaf coming out the top... about 5-6 feet up. I'm curious about that hard stalk/stem... when winter comes, will that hard stalk freeze too or should we cut it to the ground, just above the ground, or wrap it??? How easy will it be to cut that thing off? Should I have planted a small plant?

Re: Five foot tall hard stalk/stem, bare root
Frost/freezes will kill the leaves. We had many hard freezes here in SC this past winter that knocked a lot of Bananas to the ground, but not the Basjoos. Yours will be fine to sit throughout the winter in Dallas, imho.
