Default Good fertilizer for bananas?

I have used Richards in the past. Anything available to buy in the normal stores? Loves, HD etc?

What about Stokes Tropicals fertilizer for bananas, good? Better or worse than Richards for example?

Thanks

I have been using Miracle Gro. My indoor bananas are fruiting in Manitoba! 'Tis a miracle indeed!

I use a special blend called the super fruiter 6-3-16. Made by Diamond R. Recommended specifically for bananas grown in Florida sugar sand. And I can get 50 lbs for around 22 bucks. Works great on everything else using smaller amounts.

This is the real deal....I have seen it in this members banana/garden area.

Sorry, I do not use Richards awesome blend because bananas do not produce edible fruit in my zone.

If you are just growing the plant for its foliage like I do then a mix like this will work for great results in zones 4-8.

I prefer an agricultural mix of 19-19-19- but the AG store was out, so i settled with this, it still works.

Use and buy what you can afford.

PR Giants has posted about one of the fertilizers I almost exclusively use. Grass clippings. Lots and lots of grass clippings. The banners love it and I don't give a dang about my grass anyway. In a perfect world I would have no grass....but the HOA has other ideas.......

Is grass OK for potted as well? Seems like a convenient cheap option.

Do you spread those grass clippings thin? My grass clipping seem to mat!

I most often dump the contents of a push mower bag in the center of the mat and let it cascade around naturally, spreading out the larger clumps. Sometimes for aesthetic reasons I will spread it out for a more uniform look. Thick or thin doesn't seem to be too critical. I try to keep the material more or less within the "drip line" of the mat.

No idea on the potted plants. I'm would guess that it isn't quite as good. With all the heat, rain, and bugs (worms, millipedes, etc.) the material breaks down. In a room temperature pot it might take a while to break down.
