Default Grand Nain or Dwarf Cavendish?

How can you tell the difference?
I bought what I hope is 2 Grand Nain at Home Depot and they have both grown fantastic. They are now my favorites due to the big leaves and wind resistance.
P-stem is rather red at the base so don't know if that gives a hint.
Both these and my 2 Ice Cream look better than the Banjoos I grow for their frost resistance.

Leaves are gigantic on my G N compared to my Ice Cream and Basjoos.

So were the labels from HD right, do you think it is G N or could it be that they are D C instead?

Thanks

I think the two look much alike. Even with pictures it could be hard.
I grow the DC great sturdy plant. Can't be the leaf to stem ratio.
Good luck

They do look very similar, their petioles are almost the same at young age, their leaves both have pigmentation...

The only (unreliable) way to guess what you actually have is to see the width of the pseudostem. Young DCs have thicker pstems than GN, whereas they have the same sized leaves (at young age). When the GNs get older, they form longer, more adult looking leaves much faster than DC.

At least that's what I've observed so far. Goof luck and good weather.

My DCs are not as tall as my Gran Nain.
DC:

GN in the background...actually in the very corner. Dwarf Brazilians on the sides.

and some basil
My DCs only got about 6' tall.
The GN is already over my head and the leaves are 10'
You can see they love eachother. They're hugging

where are you from nph?? where in zone 8??

i have gran nain that im trying to get to flower this year. i was gonna fruit it side by side with a mature dwarf cavendish for illustrative purposes, but the cavendish started rotting along with viente cohol..that wont stop me from making a positve id on the gran nain. i have another cavendish that is skyrocketing. will try to post detailed pictures and at least show a few major physical differences between the two soon. someone else may have to add pics of dwarf Cavendish fruit/flowers to help illustrate.

If the are going fast I'd say they are DC's now if they have moderate growth I'd say they were GN's. They grow slower than a DC. :^)
