Default Help Viente Cohol tc!

Got this over two months ago and growth has been very slow. It was from Florida hill nursery and like 6" tall. It only has one leaf coming out and the other two died off. It gets 10-12 sometimes longer of light in my greenhouse closet, with the temps being in the 80's and never below 60's.

The p-stem in the last two weeks has become very skinny... I'm thinking I better bring it inside and place in front of the window then on top of my reef tank for extra light and heat.

Should I cut it down to a thicker part of the p-stem? Never messed with tc's before. I removed all the dirt in its pot and started over with fresh dry dirt.

Here is just my experience with Viente Cohol tc from Florida hill nursery
I bought one about a year and a half ago its 4 feet tall and not doing well
Another friend of mine GREG bought one from Fla Hill and his is not growing either .
Mary my neighbor 3 doors down bought one also and her's is doing poorly also..
At the same time all 3 of us purchased other TC bananas from Florida Hill that are all growing normally. I personalty know of at least 100 other plants that came from them all doing growing just fine …
If I were you I would move the TC you have into a warmer area mist it as well as water it until spring/summer arrives... If you have transplanted it to a larger 1 gallon pot then leave it in that container until you place it in the soil to grow it …. Happy growing

So far the Only TC Banana Plant that died on me was from Florida Hill.
It was a ARH Plantain , i tried everything to save it , but it bit the dust , on the other hand , TC Plants that came from Wellsprings & Going Bananas Are Winners !

I would bring it inside by a sunny window untill it firms up ..
Good Luck , Maybe a Lil Superthrive Treatment will wake it up

Guess I was hoping I would luck out! It did nothing for weeks then threw out a leaf, then started to send another. Then went down hill after that. I trimmed it done to about 1". It had a lot of roots,so no I didn't mess with the roots to check the corm area. Now I wonder what I should do about watering it?

My experience with Veinte Cohol is that it's just not a very vigorous plant. I got one as a TC from a more reputable source and it is still the smallest, slowest growing banana I have. I got other banana plants as TC's from FH and they did fine. They were misidentified, but they are growing fine. In this case, I wouldn't blame the performance on the source.
