How tall are your pseudostems?
I thought it would be fun to post the heights of everyone's pseudostems on this thread.
Fall will shut down banana growth here in central Arkansas in the next few weeks. No frost or freeze yet so the bananas continue to slowly grow with highs in the mid-60s to low-70s. 2 Raja Puri - 4.25 feet/51 inches (twins the same height) Dwarf Orinoco from Wellspring - About 6 feet/73 inches (don't know if this is really D.O. but is supposed to be) Dwarf Orinoco from Going Bananas - 4.3 feet/52 inches California Gold directly from Jeff - 2.2 feet/26 inches Dwarf Ladyfinger from Logee's - 1.75 feet/21 inches Zebrinas - 5 feet/60 inches Ensete Maurelli - 3 feet/36 inches

Re: How tall are your pseudostems?
I have 2 Orinocos that are 8 to 10 ft tall and several that are around 5 to 6 ft. I have 2 RPs that are about 6 ft and 2 about 3-4 ft. I have 1 IC that is about 3 ft. I have a DR and a DO that are about 2.5 ft and a DC that is a little over 1 ft.

Re: How tall are your pseudostems?
Great idea for a post! You know they will be bound to get shorter as the plants go north so here's some of mine. ( by aproximate memory) Ice cream: a bit over 8 ft (with 6' pup). Kandrian: 7' (impressive I thought because started as very small plant previous winter) Bordelon and African Rhino horn: between 6 and 7', these weren't in the best spot though they did get 8 hours of sun.
Fhia 21, Raja puri and Ca. Gold between 5 and 6 feet. Orinoco: 7'. Basjoo: 6 1/2 ft. These were the biggest. If all goes well with the plants overwinter next years heights should be interesting. |
