Jamaican Red update
This bunch of reds is coming along nicely and one of my Namwa plants has sent up a flag leaf. I'll post pics of that one later.
Here is what it looked like a few days after opening. This is what it looks like a couple weeks after opening. Looks like the bunch should have well over 70 fingers! You can just make out an Apple bunch at the lower left. I was able to seperate them just enough. |

Re: Jamaican Red update
You could always wrap the pseudostem to insulate if your winters are mild, or if your area gets really cold, dig it up and store it for the winter and replant in the spring. Where there's a will, there's a way...

Re: Jamaican Red update
Please tell me you're doing an English version of your book! There is simply *NOTHING* on bananas here it seems. If not, I'll just have to learn German.

Re: Jamaican Red update
SG, the height would definitely be an issue with these but what about the dwarf reds? I really think anyone that can keep bananas through the winter should try growing some kind of red as the foliage is so dang nice, and I have eaten the fruits from the mother plant mine came from and they were terrific! They have a really sweet fragrance and a flavor that's unforgettable.

Re: Jamaican Red update
Mitchel, I'm going to print out these pics and tape them to the wall next to my plants and say "NO!, NO! this is what you're SUPPOSED to do!"
Thanx for the inspiration. Awesome job!
