Hey Randy,
Love the pic of you under an Elephant Ear leaf! What type is it? Fontanesii? Would love to have one...

And is the Lime green one Colocasia 'Elena'?

Again, great pics!

Thanks Taylor. The ee you are talking about is actually a Colocasia Esculenta 'Burgandy Stem'. Fontanesii has glossy leaves. I have one of them over by the pool. If you look at the pic, it is the one under the umbrella mixed in with the cyperus.

You are correct on the 'Elena'. It has done alot better than I would have thought as it was planted this past May from a one gallon container and is well over 6'.

Oh my gosh you have so many beautiful plants!! I got all excited thinking about how I can't wait until next spring so we can do a little more improvements in our yard! Little bit more each year!

Tell your wife thanks for the pictures!! I'll be looking at them off and on through out the winter!

Thanks, Pauly... I really appreciate the compliments. Not many of my neighbors realize what I have in my backyard as they only see tops of my bananas due to my privacy fence. The ones that have stopped by and asked to see, do seem to enjoy the "nickle tour".

Thanks for the offer, Harvey, but please keep them. I try and get them when they first appear and they stay pretty much in control. I don't have to worry so much about some of the areas since I have planted so tightly, no weeds can get any sun...

Yeah, some people are jealous when they hear I have 47 acres and wish they had all that room. It's just that much more room for things to get out of control! Being forced to plant things close does sure help keep the weeds down (I lived 7 years in a city where the lights never go out even though everybody should be in bed). Now, even though I do use herbicides, it's very difficult to keep many weeds under control (Bermuda grass, nut sedge, bindweed). Even a thick layer of mulch is no match for these. I do like the looks of nice tidy yards like yours! I've got a backhoe and three tractors parked in mine to help clutter things up a bit. And so many fruit trees that I can't pick it all so much of it drops on the ground. I've got peaches, grapes, apples, plums, pears, and almonds to pick from right now. Bananas are a couple of months off still!

End of sob story!

The way that everything is grouped is just spectacular! A lot of people strive you create a dense, lush look and come up short. You've got it down to a science. Thanks for sharing!

Great Yard Randy! I'm wondering what kind of plant that is at 59 and 60. My neighbor has a large tree of that and it's puzzled me for months. Nice lush yard, keep up the great work!

47 acres is quite a sob story. I do feel really sorry for you. If you like you can give it to me. I can ease your pain.

As always, your yard is most impressive. It's lots of work planning and planting a garden. I consider my yard never complete because I don't think it will ever be! There's always new plants that I find each year and that I must have!

I think the plant you are referring to is my Manihot grahamii. If it is located at the corner of my pool area, then that is it. This has to be one of my favorite tropical looking plants...

Thanks, Austin... As far as I am concerned, the planning is the best part besides being able to sit back and enjoy the view!!! As far as never finishing, I agree, I have quite a few plants in pots for next year. If something doesn't die on me over the winter, I will have to use up more yard which won't sit well with the "other half"...

I'm offering the weeds only. As a bonus, I'll throw in the weeds from the 100 acres rent!
