Default Kluai New Nang Lum?

So I was looking around on ebay like I do sometimes to look for bananas I haven't seen before. When I came across this one.

Bulb Musa "Kluai New Nang Lum" Banana Plant +Phyto Cer. | eBay

They say it is Kluai New Nang Lum, does anyone know of another name for it that we may know? Also why is it $69? Is it the size of a couch or something? It better for that price, plus the economy shipping of $29.

Looks somewhat like a Plantain, but hard to say without seeing better photos. The reason it is expensive is because probably no one in the US or European market has the plant, and if they do, it is not common at all.

Their other bananas are expensive as well. This is the most expensive one though. I don't think I can see myself paying that much for a banana. I don't think most people on here would either.

That's an interesting banana variety you found on eBay - the "Kluai New Nang Lum". I haven't heard of that specific cultivar before, but it seems quite rare and expensive at $69 plus $29 shipping. Banana plants can get quite large when mature, so the high price may be due to the plant size or rarity. It's always exciting to discover new and unique banana types, even if they come with a hefty price tag. Let me know if you end up purchasing it - I'd be curious to hear more about this unusual banana variety!

Hopefully this helps,

Price Explanation: When shipping any sort of Agricultural product overseas, it requires a certified inspection. Phytosanitary certificate; verifies agricultural products have been inspected and are pest and disease free, and to just get an inspection for a single plant it can be pricey. So for sellers on the other side of the world to make decent 1st world cash, it offers incentive to reach out to the western market.

I was doing some digging on different cultivars and found a simillar one the other day.
Looks like these are from Thailand, found a webpage with a similar listing.

-1 Bulb of Musa Kluai New Nang Lum Banana Plant
https://www.thailandplant.com/Amorph...3fcik5cmu394f7

and I found a purple Kluai Nam Wah ABB that had similar coloring when ripe to the ones you asked about.

The cross section of the banana looks like a namwah too.
