Default Looking for banana places to shop while in south FL

In Nov, hubby and I will be going to the Keys for our 20th anniversary. We had originally planned on I75 for the route down but changed our minds and decided on going by way of the east coast, we want to see St. Augustine. So I95 down and hey perhaps the FL Turnpike and I75 North on the return trip. I'm also very interested in hedychium gingers if you know of any nurseries/gardens that sell both. Thanks for any an all help!

If you go to Homestead, Going Bananas Nursery is one of the best there is. Its right down the road from the Fruit and Spice Park (another must see). You should pretty much be able to find any tropical plant you are looking for in Homestead, there are literally hundreds of nurseries there.

Stop on Sanibel on the way down if you get a chance. Its worth the trip just to drive through the ding darling sanctuary. There is a nursery on the island. I bet its expensive, like everything else but at least it supports a good cause.

One other suggestion. About a half hour east of Naple is the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, run by the Audobon Society ( i think ). This is a killer hike through a amazing bald cypress swamp on a boardwalk. Its like stepping back in time and theres crazy birds, plants, reptiles etc. everywhere!

Edited- to insert to plant list. Its seems dated but the list is extensive and really the prices are not too expensive IMO.
