Default Mekong giant leaf problems

I been growing some Mekong giants in some pots on my deck for about 6 weeks now (TC's) and I been noticing some if the new leaves that unfurl are having some problems. Frequently a new leaf will begin to rip apart during the unfurling process as it leafs out before the petiole has completely emerged. Since the leaf is only 2/3 of the way out it tears during its process. Is this a common thing with Mekong giants? Or is it caused by something I am doing/not doing right.
