Awesome pics again Mitchel. My grandmother who passed away recently was named Luki, Yes that was her name, so it is always nice to see theses plants. I hope I grow one someday.

Thanks,

alex

Congrats...
misi luki will be the next banana I get. My problem is that I ran out of banana budget. (I didn't conceive the idea that I would have bananas until last month...hence no real budget)

My nephew insists though that I add a ML to my nanas. He lived in Samoa for two years and in his eyes..(tastes) there is no other banana than the ML.

I can hardly wait after hearing those reviews!

BTW I should mention that it's a really pretty plant too. Very bright green color and not overly powdery. Flowering PS height is about 11 feet.

Congrats, Mitchel!

Is this the plant I brought you from Jon in December 2007? I don't remember if it was Misi Luki or soemthing else. I'm just trying to gauge the time to fruiting.

Good luck on a big bunch of tasty nanners!

I was trying to remember too. I know you brought me a FHIA 18, but I think I brought the Misi Luki home myself. The 18 is a ways off because it took my lazy but so long to clear a spot and get it in the ground, but it's looking good and providing shade for the driveway so no complaints!

Yes, now I remember, it was the FHIA 18. So was the Misi Luki planted prior to December 2007? I don't remember seeing it when I was there, but the trip was a whirlwind tour and somewhat a blur in my mind.

Harvey do you remember the Ice Cream that was in the ground just inside the gate next to the driveway? That was removed to make way for this Misi Luki. I believe I planted it mid Spring 2008 but I don't keep any records so it could have been early or late spring.

At the time when you visited the configuration from the driveway gate back towards the garage along the wooden fence on the left as you aproach the garage was Ice Cream, then what I thought was Namwah but turned out to be Manzano, and Pisang Klotek nearest the garage. SO CAL ROCKER (Mitch) now has the Ice Cream that was growing there. For some reason it didn't like that location and I got tired of babying it so I gave it to Mitch.

Nice! I just bought a Misi Luki 2 months ago. Did you use any special fertilizers?

Good effort!

No nothing special. Just composted chicken manure, Sul Po Mag, some general purpose oranic plant food made by EB stone, alphalfa meal, worm castings, green sand, home made potash, and home made compost from kitchen scraps and yard debris. Some years more or less of some of these things. I've pretty much stopped mulching but when I do it's with chopped up banana plants and I do not mulch at all in the winter after having about 3 inches of mulch turn to black mush in 2007.
