Musa Basjoo fruits. Edible?
I've read that Musa Basjoo fruits are not edible... and of course that's the one that fruits every year no matter what... while with my others it's hit or miss.
When they say not edible... does that mean not tasty.. or make you sick.. or what? |

Re: Musa Basjoo fruits. Edible?
Don't know about Basjoo, never tasted them.
But in the case of Velutina, when they say not edible it's because they're loaded with seeds. The flesh happens to be delicious, however! It's just a lot of work to spit out all the seeds for such a little snack. And in the case of Zebrina, they are not edible because there's really not much of anything inside of them! The fruits just look like bananas but they don't fill up with flesh in my case.

Re: Musa Basjoo fruits. Edible?
Hello friends,
If Basjoo is well pollinated, it bears fruits which are rippen and can be eaten. Nothing wrong happens if you eat them although there are a lot of seeds and the taste would not pay for your challenge. Trying is Believing! |

Re: Musa Basjoo fruits. Edible?
Theoretically, all bananas are edible.
However, some are non-edible because of the abundance of seeds and/or the absence of the pulp. See also here for some extra information.
