I was just at going-bananas.com and found this "new" variety of bananas, Musa Viente Cohol. Does anyone have any info on this variety or does anyone have one. I'd be interested in buying a pup one someone gets one!!!
Here's the link to their description. http://www.going-bananas.com/bananap...VIENTE%20COHOL |

Re: Musa Viente Cohol, any info
Going Bananas has a long waiting list on this banana variety. People that order them now may have to wait until September or October. Because of demand, they have even increased the price on them. They report this plant can bloom, fruit and ripen in 10 months from pup planting. They grow 5-6 Ft.

Re: Musa Viente Cohol, any info
Hey guys, I placed my order right before all the buzz hit over V. cohol and have one growing. At this time, it's still small--about 1 foot high total--and is in a one gallon pot. I've learned already that this banana likes warm temperatures to really get growing. I'd say it grows a little earlier in the season than Orinoco but has similar temperature requirements. That's about all I can report so far. I will plant it in the ground when overnight temps are consistently near 65 or above.

Most fruiting bananas if not all need warm temperatures to grow and fruit well.

Re: Musa Viente Cohol, any info
I was lucky enough to secure one a week or so back and it currently is in a greenhouse, growing its first leaf. I plan on putting my "baby" out in another week or so and will post pics then and hope to keep everyone up on how it does for me... Too cool of a nanner not to try one and I am pumped!!!!
