Re: Is this Musa Zebrina?
Musa zebrina 'Rojo' is a banana that is mainly used for it's ornamental qualities as opposed to the fruit, which is seedy and inedible.

Re: Is this Musa Zebrina?
Most likely, and not edible.

Re: Is this Musa Zebrina?
I'm not sure there's enough red for it to be zedrina. It certainly doesn't look like mine.
The leaf shape also doesn't look like zebrina. Could be a sikkimensis type. |

Re: Is this Musa Zebrina?
Those pictures don't really look like mine either. Mine is a musa acuminata ssp sumatrana which is what I understand to be a zebrina. I could be wrong of course.

It's zebrina already, people! I don't see what all the confusion is about..... it just is.

Re: Is this Musa Zebrina?
I know, right?! It's just hard to come home from a hard week of school and seeing people arguing about what is clearly Musa zebrina!
Sure, it looks a little like 'Bordelon', but I don't know any big box stores selling them yet or in the past. Plus, I assumed W_T_A got them from HD or Lowes since that's where I found E. v. 'Maurelli' and zebrina in similar pots at one store. |

I've seen 'Bordelon' for sale at HD here before.

Re: Is this Musa Zebrina?
I got my Zebrina from HD and "WTA's" looks like its twin. No doubt.

My bordelon, dwarf cav and zebrina all came from Lowes, clearly and correctly identified (for a change). I see 'Maurelli' there and at HD all the time. My tall red came from HD too. |

Re: Is this Musa Zebrina?
Bordelon is the main one these stores sell. These have long narrow leaves and the leaves kinda point upwards like the chinese banana's.

Yeah, I figured that part out. So I'm there at the website, how do you have it displayed each and everytime you post on this forum?

Re: Is this Musa Zebrina?
I think it looks like a bordelon from the picture. Zebrina has wider leaves than a bordelon, bordelon have narrower leaves, generally speaking. Are the leaves wide or narrow? It's hard to tell in the picture.
