Mutant Morado
Today I noticed what appears to be a Musa Verdin growing in my original Morado Mat.

Re: Mutant Morado
Does anyone know what the long narrow banana leaf in the background of the top photo is?
Here are some of Gabe's photos of a Tall Green Red.

Re: Mutant Morado
When was it noticeable that a green red was emerging from your red mat.
I have a new red growing and I want to weed out the green to keep the mat red. |

I was happy enough to carry a plant with an 11' pseudostem up my mountain so I can have it closer to my home. It's now planted along the west side of my driveway and has a partially obstructed ocean view and will be placed on a diet of Island Banana Fuel. apr 9

Re: Mutant Morado
What a trek that must have been. Hard work pays off though!
Is it a heliconia leaf in your first pic? |

Re: Mutant Morado
I actually prefer the Green Red fruit. It's not quite as strong tasting as the Red, yet still very similar and quite good.

Re: Mutant Morado
When I moved the Green Red, I also removed a small pup which appears to be a Green Red.

Re: Mutant Morado
I was not positive that a Green Red would handle being moved as well as the Morado.
When moving a large Morado without many roots, the leaves never needed to be trimmed. The Green Red handled the move fine and looks great 5 days later. apr 9 apr 9 apr 14
