Default Re: My ''Ae Ae'' and ''Belle''!!!

Hello,

To update on my Ae Ae,it has gotten really thin, having only 3 live leafs and leaf bases and a cigar and is unable to hold itself upright(so i just staked it).All the cut leaf bases it had when it arrrived, have died back but none of the whole leafs it produced since i got it died(the 3 remaining leafs). Have you had that happen before and if yes, what was the problem? Too much water?Too little? Nutrient deficiency? Not enough heat? I am puzzled and certainly dont want to loose it!
To make matters worse, since 1-2weeks ago, there is no usable leaf blade on the plant as wind tore them off the leaf rachis except a few segments on a few leafs and the partially torn open cigar leaf which is only 1/3 out so far and growing slowly.

Thank you very much in advance!

I would really appreciate your help on the above problem and what i can do to correct it!

My plan so far is to move it to Pyrgos(which is a good deal warmer with Zone 10a winters),bareroot it and ground plant it in a slope. My thought is that this is due to bad root/soil conditions and/or lack of enough heat and the above actions will combat the problem. What do you think?

Thank you very much in advance!

Thank you very much for your reply Matt!

I have posted any recent photo of it so the one you saw probably is of it doing well.

Well, today I proceeded with the barerooting and ground planting and definitely found a cause! More than half of the corm had rotted away! The rest was solid and had healthy roots so I ground planted it in Pyrgos, hoping the extra heat and drainage may help it recover. The pseudostem broke close to the base in the process btw as the corm rot had formed a weak point on it. The growth center is ok though and I hope it recovers...
It's been windier and cooler than usual for the season lately in Melissia...Not good...
