Another angle of my CG. It underwent the winter without protection but it scorched some leaves. I heard it is one of the hardest bananas in zone 9.
The pups are new growing like crazy. But before I had 2 years of waiting before a new pup appeared. Strange creature.

Blwn: It is sweet to me unlike the one you buy at the store. It has a tinge of papaya and mango to it. It has a unique taste of its own. I like it.
Tony : I am not an expert on CG but the one you bought might have fooled you into buying it. I don't know. But who knows. Like I said it is a strange creature.
I have a 3rd generation and all are "dwarfed".
Thanks Buffy for your support.

Tony's definitely looks like a California Gold. My most vigorous is 5 to 6 foot already coming from ground level as a new pup this Spring. I highly doubt it will fruit this year because of the actual immaturity of the plant, so I suspect it will reach 7+ feet of pseudostem by the end of the growing season.

Also, I have noticed more vigor and overall larger plants as the mat has matured more and more. First year stem was at 4-5 foot at bloom. Second year: no bloom at 6 foot. This year: probably no bloom again and probably taller than the previous ones.

Tony: I concur with Taylor. I t sure looks like a CG and you might have over fertilize it too (LOL). Yours is much more vigor than mine. But don't count on it on not to flower during winter. Two of mine did. But it survived. And for sure you will have more banana fingers to expect.
