My first success!
I'm a noob gardener and this is the third time I've tried to grow a banana plant. The first one drowned [my bad] and I still don't know why the second one went fail. But this one [finally!] is doing great! I've kept it alive, and growing, for a week and two days. The new leaf unfurled [in that time] and it now has a third leaf! It's a dwarf Cavendish and this is how it looked on May 30th and, again, on June 8th. I'm so excited, I just wanted to share!
Btw, I've had to bring it in at nights due to a potted-plant theft in our neighborhood. And there is one thing that concerns me a little. The stem looks kind of yellow.

Re: My first success!
Lookin' good! I wouldn't be concerned about the stem being yellow, honestly. A little sun should green it up (or it might just be natural coloration). The only color you really have to worry about (on the stem) is brown combined with squishiness....that's rot and can be a problem for sure! Keep up the good work!

Re: My first success!
Total thanks! That new, unfurled leaf is about four times as long now and the plant is still doing great!
