Default My propagation area

As I try to get plants ready to field plant I have appropriated the back patio for the next few months.

A bunch of Maricongo and Hua Moa that I have started from suckers and corm bits

Those are some nice garden plots of bananas and pineapples in the background.

Wow! Beautiful collection!

Just looked up your climate zone, 10a, correct? I'm in 9b, so almost at your zone. I wish I could grow my bananas like that.

I'm in a microclimate, in the background of those pictures is an earthen dam that holds in Lake Okeechobee. The last time it actually froze in my backyard was 1989. It gets cold, but pretty much any kind of north wind blows over the lake and into my yard. My absolute low temperature this winter was 40 and that has been typical. In January 2009, January 2010 and December 2010 I got down to 33. Most years though it doesn't get below 40 degrees.

I bet that lake keeps some heat in the area around it. You are living the dream.
