Re: Namwah Pearl
Mine just kicked the bucket after surviving for a full year. It was my fault really, I let it get burned by leaving in direct sun and I over watered it. I tied saving it by repotting in almost pure perlite in a clay pot but it was too late. It seemed to be very sensitive to both sun and water.

Re: Namwah Pearl
Yes I’m having problems, but it might just be me not knowing what I am doing. I am very new to this and am learning as I go.
Mine is small, about 7”tall, I have it in the finished basement by a north window under grow lights. I also have it on a tray of water. I don’t have the pot in water, but raised up so it does not stay wet. It has lost 2 leaves so far and is not showing any signs of getting any new ones. I guess I should have waited till spring to get it so it could get some size on it before I had to bring it in for the winter. Jane |

Re: Namwah Pearl
I'm anxious to get answers on this, too! I just got mine awhile back and it's staying in the house. It's gotten two new leaves so far. I'm giving it bottled water since our water quality is so bad...

Re: Namwah Pearl
I got mine in the last flurry a few months ago. It is sucked back under the taller plants under my pergola and seems to be doing OK. It get hit with the sprinkler or when I water other things and I just gave it a touch or fertilizer. Slow, light green, no verigation but at least it is still alive and growing.
Has ANYONE seen one of these over a foot tall or bigger? Terry |

Re: Namwah Pearl
I agree with everyone. So has anybody Namwah pearl survived to a decent size yet? I got two more last year and thought that they were gonna croak this winter. I've grown several Namwah varieties before and this specimen so far has been quite the slow grower and at times frustrating. I think this is mostly contributed to the fact that its a TC specimen rather than a pup. Combine that with the fact that its a slightly variegated specimen and we have a rather weak growing plant. However, one of the latest leaves seems to have tiny specks of dark green. This variety really does have some great potential but I may have to pamper these plants for another year or so before I could even consider planting it out.

Re: Namwah Pearl
I lost mine.
It was a very pretty plant. I thought so sure that I could beat the odds, but alas, no... |

Re: Namwah Pearl
Mine died (or did I kill it )!
Here's a good thread where a few people talked about it, just for the sake of linking these threads together... Who wants a Dwarf "variegated" Namwa Pearl?

Re: Namwah Pearl
I lost mine too. Really made me sad, but it’s the only one so far I have done in. Kind of makes me nervous about getting anything else that small.

check out this post on gardenweb, click on the link to the image of the Namwah 'Pearl.' Now that is what I'm talking about. Unfortunately, Miamimax also mentions that most of the TC Namwah 'Pearl' fails to ever survive and the one in the picture is of a pup not a TC. |
