New Agri-Starts Catalog
Saw this today. I really don't have a problem with them using the photo, but I let them know its the wrong plant. We had a good talk and I'm going to help them sort out all the names and other inaccuracies, and maybe even supply them with decent, correct photos. I thought it was funny
Mine taken years ago of Musa laterita. Theirs, erroneously shown as a picture for "Musa 'Mannii' (Indian Dwarf)". They however did do a bit of touch up!

Re: New Agri-Starts Catalog
I've seen some other company (can't remember which one off the top of my head) that has a picture of what is obvioulsy Musa coccinea labeled as mannii. Maybe if my mannii flowers this year I'll send them a picture of it.
It's good that you've been able to establish a repore (spelled correctly?) with the folks at Agri-Starts. That one might pay off big time! |

Hey Gabe, I have heard from one nurseryman that you know you must be doing something right when others start stealing your work, lol. Will you please tell the powers that be at Agri-Starts that their "Musa itinerans" has actually been positively identified by Markku Hakkinen as Musa yunnanensis? I've gotten rarepalmseeds.com to change the name, but haven't really talked to anybody else about it. It's going to get really confusing in a few years when the real Musa itinerans becomes more common and available in the trade. Thanks, buddy. Frank P.S. Really nice picture, btw! |

Re: New Agri-Starts Catalog
I sould be getting in contact with their marketing direct after the conference is over sometime, I'll include the note about the "M. itinerans", and you can also send me any other notes that may concern them. Thanks Frank.

Re: New Agri-Starts Catalog
PS- Agri-Starts has made a great move in beggining to get thier plants verified virus free. This means I should be able to import some to Hawaii with enough work. They only have done it on a couple bananas so far, but they are slowly making progress. I also however got a new TC book which goes thru how to eliminate viruses from tissue cultured plants. Perhaps I've I can figure this out, or get someone else to do it for me, I can get many of my rare bananas to Hawaii, and thus make them more easily available to the forum.
