Default New to bananas need opinion

Hi All!
I am new to the forum and very new to bananas.
This past Monday I received 2 new baby plants, an icecream and a california gold in the mail. i put them in small pots in Miracle grow and perilite. The drainage is excellent. I haven't watered them everyday, but I am not sure, I think there is something wrong. Am I right? Please see pics.

I know so little about bananas, I really wanted your opinion on these
2 plants, I think there is some kind of fungus growing on it, but I wanted to know what you all thought.
Thank you.

Are you talking about the maroon blotches on the leaves? If so, there is nothing wrong with your plant (other than it is misidentified) -- those are normal pigmentation for many types of bananas, but not for Ice Cream.

YO Butterfly: Nice Pix of your nanners! I don't see a thing wrong, with any of them. Plan on keeping them out of the direct sun for a couple weeks or so, until they get used to their new home. Water as needed, no fertilizer, or special treatment needed, except perhaps a new banana song or two! :-). My two, after arrival, were also replanted, and took three weeks to a month to acclimate, then put out new leaves!
Best of luck, welcome aboard!...Tom, Portland, OR.

I think she was talking about the stem...it looks like maybe the outer layer is starting to turn Brown and could possibly rot. That's the only fungus I could see. Water only when the soil starts to dry out and possibly spray it with some fungicide. Putting it in full sun once its used to sunlight would help too dry it out and stop it from rotting. If you're talking about the red on leaves that's a marking a lot of bananas have.

P.S.-Tom......What is a banana song?

Thanks everyone!
I feel better now.
They are so small I was worried about them.
I'm going to bring them inside for the winter since they
really don't have any time to grow this year now.
I absolutely love these plants now...I will see what the
red leaves are about, oh well, as long as it lives. LOL
If it's not an icecream, mabey I'll buy one next spring.

YO NateJ740: Any song you'd like to sing to your plants is fine! :-) Remember these type of tropicals are supposed to help us relax and unwind from the stresses of the day!

Stay Safe,Tom, p.s. in the late 50's, 60's or early 70's there was a song methinks by Sam Cooke, called "Dayo". Call your local oldies radio station, perhaps they can locate it for you. Stay Safe,Tom
