New Ice Cream croms help
A friend of mine gave me a couple nice Ice Cream croms today. They are about 2 ft tall already. He cut them fresh today. Is there anything special I should do when I plant these guys up. I sprayed some fungicide on the cut part already. Any advice will be great. Thanks

Re: New Ice Cream croms help
More info please , are there any roots on the section of Corm ? Went you say Corm is it just Corm with dormant buds on it or are there plants with leaves already formed ? If it's just a Corm pot it up in a well drained compost mix , keep the mix just damp not wet and wait. If there are plants with leaves already but little root , then cut the leaves but for the central roller leaf and pot up the same as the corm . The plants need to form roots and leaves in balance to do well. A wet compost mix will make the roots rot or not form , a dryish mix is best. Plants with few or no leaves cannot get rid of excess moisture and will rot. Plants and Corms are best in warm shade to start with. Some Musa's are pretty unkillable and will comeback from major mistakes ( I know because I've made major mistakes ) but the time it takes them to comeback means you lose a lot of growing season.
Hope this helps Best of Luck Steve

Re: New Ice Cream croms help
The croms have about two small leaves. There are a few roots attached to the crom also. Thanks for the info.

Re: New Ice Cream croms help
Make sure to plant it deep enough...I have made that mistake before. With Saba. And it died...
