Default New threat to banana plants.

My neighbors dogs have destroyed three of my banana plants, shredded them to pieces. My question is: what are 7 foot banana plants worth. Yes, I know they can grow back but the point is that I have to put a value on the plants to give him a bill for the damage. I don't know what variety they are.....

Personally??? Grab a few beers, offer one to the neighbor... And say Hakuna Matata...

Life is too short to worry about the price of dogs eating bananas...

What I'd do would depend on who suggested compensation, whether you generally get along and whether this appears to a a one time episode. Have you ever tasted the bananas (assuming they're edible) or is the 1st year growing them? Do you have others? Assuming it won't happen again I'd probably figure how many pounds of fruit I potentially lost and multiply that by market price for better than Chiquitas. Make both figures on the high side especially the price since you were raising these thus knew all chemical they'd encountered. And if you are friends make sure to give them bananas when you do get fruit.

Exactly!

And then build a fortress around your yard so it doesn't happen again.

Are you serious? The bananas are resilient and will grow back. Will your relationship with your neighbor be as resilient?
Duckfood's wisdom is PRICELESS!

Love thy neighbor. Bananas grow like weeds, you will survive. So will your plants.
