![]() Hi everyone I have been on this site for a while getting some info here and there, just signed up now because finally i have banana's.. I just ordered 2 basjoo bananas.. There still very small, but again i'm new so i really didn't want to spend alot on a banana that i might sadly over love and kill.. I have been growning cannas and elephant ears for years. So hopefully they are something like them.. My family and i just moved to Alabama from Ontario Canada.. Its was a big move/change and i figure now it the time for something new in the garden also.. I do however have one question. Since i'm just renting for now all my gardening is being done in pots. I have my two Basjoos in each there own pot. They are ruffly about 12" high and have about 5 leaves. The pots they are in now are 12" pots. I do have some big pots about 20" high and just as wide.. Do they need to gradually be placed in bigger pots like some other plants, or should i switch them into the bigger pots. I've had them a week now and they seem to be bouncing back from the shipping.. I would like to see them do well.. Oh and about what is a good water amount?? do they like to be wet?? moist or let them dry between watering?? And is it safe to give them miracle grow?? Any info is much needed thanks again..

![]() I personally have had a tough time overwintering basjoo indoors for the winter. It seems like they do so much better in the ground. If you have any access to any land I'd put them in the ground now and water and fertilize the heck out of them while it is still so hot out and then mulch them for winter since they are so small. You can always dig them up when you move, even if they need to be put in pots for awhile. If you really have no access to any land then either keep them hot and well lit or very cool (40F) and dark over the winter. If they do die, skip the mail order and find someone on this site to send you a pup in the early summer when you have land to pant them in.

![]() Musa basjoos were my first, just last year at this time I recieved 2 little ones about the same size as yours. I decided that since so late in the season, to grow them indoors under a grow light and next to a south facing window, I think it was the best decision I made so far cause one is now about 12 feet and the other at least 8 feet and so many pups this summer 30+ pups from the 2 so Rob is right if you or anyone wants a pup, Musa Basjoo
just let me know, I really am starting to worry where they will all stay for the winter and then next summer!

![]() Thanks for the info. I'm reign and the landlord won't let us dig up the yard. There for I have to keep them potted. Should I keep them in a smaller pot or go as big as I can?? Wow 30 pups in one year, so I'm not crazy to hope for 5 next year??
