I've seen the Willis Orchard ads before and I was under the impression that they were part of Ty Ty Nursery. But they appear to be an offshoot of the infamous Ty Ty Nursery, though unrelated. A former employee, Jason Willis, apparently disgruntled about the "customer service" issues of his former employer, formed the "Willis Orchard Co." and "Paradise Palm Co." Their address is the same. The front page of their banana ads in the net is the same also.
Willis Orchard Company: Banana Trees
Paradise Palm Company: Banana Trees

Here is what they are saying about themselves:
From Paradise -
About Us
Who are you guys?

We're a small company based in southern Georgia that was formed in the spring of 2007. The owner, Jason Willis, has 17 years of experience in the nursery business. Paradise Palm Company was created by former members of a very large mail-order nursery. The poor business practices and terrible customer service of our previous employer led to unhappy customers and equally unhappy employees. Our goal is not to make a pile of money, but to have satisfied customers and employees that are happy to help customers with their products and to address any problems without hassle--this is, again, to the contrary of the former employer. That desire led to our "Friendly Guarantee." We want our policies and company to be as friendly and easy to work with as possible. We appreciate each and every one of our customers, and want to thank you in advance for choosing Paradise Palm Company to serve your palm tree needs.

From Willis Orchard -
About Us
Who are we?

The owner, Jason Willis, has been in the nursery business for the past 17 years. A naturalist and conservationist, he opened a containerized long leaf pine seedling nursery that grew nearly 1 million trees per year. After a few long years as a grower of conservation trees, he moved back into sales and management of a very large mail order nursery company. Due to personal conflict with that owner's disinterest in customer service and his unethical general business practices, Jason decided to open Willis Orchard Company (and its sister niche company, Paradise Palm Company) to offer customers an alternative source for all the fruit trees, nut trees, berry plants, and ornamental trees he knew so much about and loved to work with.

Throughout the past 17 years of working for other nursery owners and serving thousands of customers he has learned the right and wrong ways of doing mail order business. Jason's goal is to bring the best of what he has learned to his two new companies. His mission in business is based on two of the strongest pillars of business: excellent customer service and only the best quality products.

===================================================

I'm sure Harvey will be pleased to learn that even some of Ty Ty Nursery's former employees acknowledge the "unethical" business practices of TTN's owner. It appears that they want to make amends for themselves. For me, that speaks for itself. They have something to prove. I might try them. If I can try Ty Ty Nursery, why not them? I just don't know if I want to do it now, since it's getting pretty cold here in Seattle.

Thanks for the links Chong. Good to see people just trying to do right. Always good to have a few more sources. I'm quickly finding that dealing with members her can get you some of the best plants.

It looks to me that this may be an expansion of the TyTy model in order to attract new buyers. I would be extremely careful.

"Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice shame on me!"

Good luck in your purchase.

Has anyone looked at the online county records to find the physical address of these companies, and compare them with the Ty Ty address on a map?

To my knowledge, Barack Obama has zero screen names on Bananas.org.

Most people I know look at the prices they charge and find their plants somewhere else at greatly reduced prices.

I have heard that (and I cannot confirm or deny) that PAradise Palms address is a mail drop.....

Give the ma call and verify. Looking at what they offer, I can get the same thing in many cases for 1/3 or less.

If you go online to the county records site, you'll find that Ty Ty Nursery and Paradise Palm Co (aka Willis Orchard Co) are physically located at separate locations. Then going to MapQuest or Google Earth, you can zoom in on the locations and find two operational nurseries -- separated by 39 miles.

With a little more research, you'll find plenty of comments about Paradise Palm Co on the internet:
