![]() hello, so I have a Williams dwarf IIRC and I planted it in 03/2011 when it was about a foot tall. I noticed the flower bloom in either April or may of 2013 and the fruiting started only a few days after. it started out great and had lots of fingers in the flower but now im having problems )=. I have attached some pictures here to show its condition right now, this all started about 2 weeks ago, they weren't that bad but now I am concerned. does this look like the Anthracnose disease? not enough water? im really sad because I was really excited when I saw the flower and now the bananas are rotting away slowly. I would really like some advice on what I need to do, I will be constantly checking the thread and forum for answers. thanks a lot everyone. by the way, I was forced to cut the top leaves of the mother plant because they were yellowing out. I am located in southern California if that makes a difference on the plant

![]() It's because the mother plant has no leaves to sustain the fruit, so it's probably just going to keep rotting away. Were all of the leaves killed off by the harsh winter that we had?

![]() funny im in Granada hills as well. well only the mother plant has these problems, I had it supported so the wind does not damage it but the leaves all ripped up and began to yellow. so its only going to keep rotting away?? I cant do anything about this?

![]() At this point I don't really think you can. Some of the other stems look like they are close to fruiting though, so you might have another bunch coming along soon. Hopefully it comes during the spring or early summer of next year so that the fruit have a chance to mature properly over the growing season, and hopefully the plant has at least several leaves. I had a bunch of Raja Puri emerge in November of last year and they all were killed off by the cold.

![]() There are plenty of places like eHow, and pitangadiego has some good growing tips. But this is probably one of the best because you can get advice from other people who are growing them. Also, for future reference, you might want to try a variety that's hardier and has stronger leaves. The wind is just terrible in our area, especially in the Balboa Highlands where I am. Raja Puri is a good choice. It stays short, is cold hardy, and the wind here doesn't damage the leaves nearly as much as other varieties. I should have a pup ready in a few weeks if you're interested. Dwarf Namwah would also be good, but I don't have that one. You just have to keep in mind though that in our area we do have wind and the occasional frost, and because of that it's possible to lose the fruit.

![]() Also if you notice, the stock can not keep up its own weight. Same thing happened to me last week, I put some support in place but while trying to stabilize it a few days later I acccidently let the support drop so it fell again and this it more or less broke completely. So despite me having a good support, I now see the two leaves and the stock yellowing, so I think it is gone. Same for you I would say.
Could this happen due to overwatering when it is 95+ every day or was it the fact that it just became to heave? any thoughts? |
