Possible issue inside with namwha pup
Friend in November gave me a mother and two pups. Mother an other pup are doing great. they sit near each other and are near heat vent. other is sitting under a vent a few feet. not happy, half way up stem turning skinny and black. like 4 weeks ago i removed dead skin from stem area, not sure if thats the cause.kinda sunken in too. soil is pretty dry. i figured it sitting on top of reef tank lighting hood the heat wouldn't hurt it. gets hot on bottom of pot.

Re: Possible issue inside with namwha pup
Just cut it back. Where the top is turning black just cut it down 3 - 5" below where it is black. See what the inside looks like and it should start going. I also think if the pot it self it getting real hot you might need to keep more water in it, or just move it a few feet away from the vent.

Re: Possible issue inside with namwha pup
I just posted a video of what I did to my pup with the same problem under container grown bananas. Your right, I saw on mine that after a couple of weeks the drying outer layer shrank and seemed to tighten around the plant so I carefully remove that too after the center leaves came out. I think the plant just forces that open though if its growing strong but helping it along can't hurt.
