Pstem broke
Not a happy bunny, the 6ft Pstem on my overwintered basjoo
decided to keel over after i moved it outside from the house to an unheated greenhouse. I had to cut it off a couple of inches above the corm. This made me a bit twitchy so i brought it back into the house again. My other pups which have been in the unheated greenhouse over winter are all fine. I am now thinking of putting the cut corm under a growlight to help revive it any thoughts on that ? Note the corm is solid and doesnt seem to show any signs of rot. Anyone in the UK been brave enough to put any nanas outside yet ? |

Re: Pstem broke
I'm sure if you put it on a heatmat or heated prop it'll reshoot, they normally do.
My basjoos get left out all winter and don't seem to suffer at all. They've been growing very slowly all winter this year, only getting a bit blackened when we get a bad frost. I normally leave my sikkis out too,but decided to lift them last year as they were in the wrong place and thought they'd benifit from a headstart this spring if they were in the greenhouse. At the minute I'm trying desperately not to water them too much as I don't want them to grow too fast yet until this cold spells gone(hopefully the last one we'll get, lol) |

Re: Pstem broke
Steve,
To be honest i suspect i caused it myself putting it outside albeit in the greenhouse before the weather improved. The others have been out there all winter and are ok. I dont currently have a growmat (must get one) but i do have an old 20w winemakers heated tray that i have just placed underneath the pot with a bulb overhead so belt and braces now :-) Cheers for that. |

Re: Pstem broke
I'm sure that'll work.
If you are interested in getting a heatmat try getting one of ebay heatmat, heat mat, Hair Care, Health Beauty items at low prices on eBay.co.uk |
