A question or two
First question would be, what or where can I find educational reading material on banana's? I know this forum is good, but sometimes as a newbie it's difficult to search threads (or fully understand for that matter) when one doesn't know all the neccessary terms.
So I was thinking/hoping that there is like a Banana's for Dummies book/website where I can learn general parts, growing, lifecycle, etc. That way I can learn the basics, then search old threads, before posting dumb questions Second (dumb)question for the day, I have a new 14" Lady Finger that is doing fine so far in her pot, but it has what I believe is called a "pup" already. Searching my personal horitcultural database, I would think this would cause the main plant fight for nutrients???? But I would think the main plant is to tender to attempt to dissociate at this time. Your thoughts? Thanks

Re: A question or two
There is a plethora of information on growing bananas on the internet. I'd just do some searching and reading before buying anything.
As a rule of thumb each plant should be allowed a few pups that are staggered enough in size to continue the stand. Here is something Gabe made to help ID the different parts of the banana plant. |

Is the plant potted up or in the ground?
