Default Record number of fruit bunches

What is your record for most blooms at one time??

Right now I have seven bunches hanging, which is a record in and of itself, and I think I'll have 12 by the end of summer depending on how long a few of them take to ripen. That will be my record so far, and Harvey, Gabe, Margie, and Mitch can tell you that I don't have a lot of space to grow with the dog training we do and the need for lawn area!

I can't wait to see Jon's number! I bet a few other people here have high numbers too, but really any number of bunches is a success, especially with the zones some of you live in!

Congrats, Mitchel, that's a lot of banana bread!

My record for now is two, though I might have another, possibly. Next year I hope to have more if we don't have ultra cold temps like January 2007.

You have plenty of room, btw. Do like Jon and lose the lawn!

Did you ever plant anything in your little triangle? I keep thinking either a jujube (pruned to a columnar shape, which they take very well) or a pitanga (pretty, fruit ripens over extended period).

P.S. I thought I posted this response almost immediately after the thread was started, but just noticed it wasn't there. Firefox does a very good job at keeping a copy of such things and I just found my post by clicking on the back button about 20 times. I really like using Firefox as my browser!

That's enough talk about that! Shhh!!!

No , but I'm still thinking a fig would do great there because there is almost zero sun in the winter while the leaves are gone! I have that Celeste that's doing great in it's container awaiting it's day in the soil! I just need the wife's approval.

Congrats on the bunches Mitchel!

I think the most I've had at once was about 9 bunches. I keep removing plants that I don't want and replace them with new varieties to try, so it will be a while before I top 9 bunches. Right now I'm growing 13 varieties, and at least 3 of those will be gone by the end of the year.
Cool thread!

I am having a record year too. The wet summer has certainly helped.
I have 7 with flower and/or fruit, and 2 more flagging. I'll bet I have a dozen by November.

I have one and I am very happy with that. It took for years and four winters to survive.

I'm curious - with your zone I'm surprised that you would want more flowering after this time of year. Will they still ripen for you?

Not likely. I'm not sure that I have a choice in the matter anyway.

Maybe I need some anti-freeze juice!

Can you water a banana with ethylene glycol for cold protection
