Re: Remove or Not Banana pups
The pups you want to keep leave in place the rest cut them off.. :^) I wouldn't remove anything by propping. :^)

Re: Remove or Not Banana pups
for best fruit production leave 1 or two pups and dig out the others.

Re: Remove or Not Banana pups
If your plant is fruiting right now, I wouldn't remove any pups.....you risk damaging the root system of the main plant and compromising the development of the fruit. The time for pup removal is well before a plant fruits or after....not during. Sounds like you missed your chance and will have to pay the consequences.

Re: Remove or Not Banana pups
Personally, I'd wait on it, unless you're just gonna chop the pups off at the ground. If you start digging in roots and disturbing soil, you're likely to do more damage than good.

Re: Remove or Not Banana pups
Like Bryan said.. I'd keep the two 4ft'ers, and cut the other 4 and any that pop up. :^) Cutting roots at this stage isn't worth the negative effects. :^)

Re: Remove or Not Banana pups
If it gets to the point where they all start to crowd, I would take some of the pups off but definitely leave the 4 footers since I think they are too large to sucessfully separate (the root system is probably all over the place by now).
