Banana Farm For Sale


I can't say that I've ever seen a banana farm for sale in Florida. BTW, I am not trying to sell it or anything I just came across it and thought it was interesting. And if I had spent the better part of my life in the cold north, banana farm in Florida sounds pretty good.

That was a dream of mine. To retire to Pine Island Florida. Fishing and growing bananas what a life. I did own a condo on Ft.Myers Beach for seven years and made four or five trips down there.Great fishing.

That sounds good. However, should I ever get tired of idiots in our government or situation in the "civlised west", I would move muuuuuch more to the south. Brazil seems to be the ideal candidate.


Hi Tony, isn't it possible to just as effectively grow bananas on a farm close to San Diego? Yep, it's drier, but I thought that these particular two locations were very similar in winter lows, proximity to tropic... Dreams should be fulfilled. You might not get a second chance.


Btw. what is the reason for selling that farm? Is it no more worth having for those people or was the cold of last month so bad? And price?

LOLZ. Another question would be, how much do you pay on taxes for almost 14 acres of banana field in SW Florida?
Besides, Ante, you've got brand new speedways up and down all over the Croatia, so this makes you less of a banana republic, than me.
Ante, I would do it just as Joachim did it, buy a condo in Brasil and move the hell out of Europe.

I only wish I could afford it! Pine Island Key is surrounded by great fishing year around! I have a friend that lives down there and have visited him several times. Nice place to live!

Jack, taxes in Florida come mostly from property tax and sales tax (no state income tax) and like the add said, the property has an exemption from property tax because of the agricultural status.

The weather here is fine for growing bananas,but the fishing is nothing like fl.
As far as fulfilled dreams I would be there tomorrow if I could.

yes. You want to buy one chácara or one yard with house or one farm or large garden in Brazil. There is also one chácara in my neighbourhood for sale.

I bought my chácara two years ago, it was not so expensive, relatively cheap.

For buy one yard, farm, house or yard you have to apply one CPF number, this is THE Brazilian tax number. Without this you cannot buy in Brazil yards, farms, cars, ships, airplanes and houses and cannot open one bank account. See also more about this on my website Bananas Raras, this is also in English, but you do speak and understand German too.

I'm part time emigrant, always in the vacations in Brazil and still working in Germany.

To get one visa or residence permit for Brazil, you have to have one monthly income of 2,000 US$ in the minimum as one retired person to get one visa for retired persons (visto de aposentado) or have the minimum investition of 150,000 reais to build one business in Brazil. My Brazilian lawyer told me, that I can also use rental incomes from my house in Germany, but the disablity pension must be the greater part of the minimum income of 2,000 US$.

I hope that I will retire soon, one apply for one pension is already made and I was to different doctors, one doctor told me, that I could get one pension and give my job up. And it's possible that I will take one sabbat year, I was informing in talking with my personal chef about this. Or I will take one part time job, 6 months working in Germany and 6 months staying in Brazil per year. And with second incomes as book author (banana books (now are 69 pages of more than 200 pages ready translated to English , total 39 species and cultivars ready in English, still 59 cultivars and species are to translate to English)) and partner of Frutas Raras, now my wife has one new internet job at Tankauto, she could work in Brazil in the internet, this job can be made worldwide. Also the wife of my housekeeper went to the Policia Federal and the Brazilian police told her that it will take one long way to get one visa for me, I have to apply one visa at the Brazilian Embassy in Germany. If you apply one CPF to buy one yard or farm or one chácara in Brazil, you have to go to the Brazilian Embassy in Bratislava! The easiest way is the visa for retired persons. If I do have too few pension to apply, then one friend of the dad of my best friend could help me, he is growing exotic fruits (also bananas???) in Brazil, is former ship captain. He had also problems with his pension at the first, too few for one visa for retired persons, but he could manage to stay in Brazil for ever! The time will tell me!

Yes, Europe is the hell, Germany is for me the hell, too cold climate, no banana friendly climate, high taxes, bad gouvernment, islamic terrorists, problems with islamic immigrants, increasing war risk, increasing risk of one Third World War, missing rocket defense shield against nuclear weapons from Iran and Russia and more. These are problems which Brazil does not have! So I want to retire and emigrate. When I am in Brazil, I do feel much better than in Germany and Europe, one paradise. Brazil is more habitable than Germany for me! Germany is not habitable because of its climate, it is too expensive to heat during the winter, and the winters are too dark and cold for me, 7.5 hours daylight on 21st Dec is the hell for me! You are right! I'm like one banana plant. One banana plant needs tropical climate with much sunlight and much warmth all-year, the banana is my favourite plant.

Oh yes, the U.S. immigration laws make more difficulties than the Brazilian immigration laws! Foreigners have to consider very good before buying one banana farm in Florida! And it is important to inform much about U.S. immigration laws, tax laws and much more. Also about costs of housekeeping and other costs in the U.S.A. Surely it is cheaper to live in Brazil than in the U.S.A. Perhaps you need one U.S. tax number to buy the banana farm in Florida! But foreigners without residence permit can apply the CPF number of Brazil to buy one banana farm or one large exotic fruit garden with house, it is not difficulty but easy. And you have also to learn the Portuguese language. Are there language courses for Brazilian Portuguese in Bratislava? I do speak more and more Portuguese.

First of all, sorry, I know this is not thread or topic related. I will post just one more thing and then do all my other communication regarding this topic in PMs. Sorry.

Well hi again Joachim, I was tired the other day, but I certainly have some free time to reply to your post now. I'm just counting or trying to enumarate the reasons "why" to move to South or Central America. So far my other candidates were located in Europe, but seeing as the old European culture stagnates I consider living somewhere else than where I was born. At first I thought that Sochi, RU or Makarska, CO were the solutions, but more extensive research showed that both localities would be unsuitable for the way of life I chose. Therefore (and thanks to Beth's arguments which kicked started me wondering about SA)


Well, first of all, I don't know about Lucianopolis, but it seems to be on the edge of tropical and subtropical zones. I too would choose a place like that (or slightly more tropical), but am wondering ('cause there are other important factors too).
You say they are relatively cheap, how would you mean that (in €). What is relatively cheap for a German might not be cheap for Slovak.
Also, you seem to be relatively close (I know...) to Sao Paolo and Rio de Janeiro. How about those places. I heard (from personal experience of several people) that those places are architecturally very similar to European cities and so are the prices (compared to Paris, Berlin and London). How about that?

I will have a look at that although I'm pretty sure I've read your entire websites many times over already.

Now we are getting to the funny part. I would want to emigrate there fully. What are their terms and conditions for such situation? Do they accept freshly graduated specialists in the technical field? Eager and willing to work I might add.

This is not an issue in my case. All I need is a computer and internet to make enought money to live well. I was more thinking about some university position there. At first doctorand and we will see where that will lead.


Certainly not the reason why I would wanna move. I'm just tired of this way of life. It's terrible here, Slavic cultures offer such an amount of freedom, that you can even feel free to steal and rob from your own kind. And that's where a line will have to be made one day. But first people will have to realize that they live for each other and not for themselves and that there are other values in your life than just money and power (not necessarily talking about Europe anymore...). Yet I'm afraid that this will take another 200 or more years. But I want to live today.
Btw. Joachim, there are so powerful weapons now, that it won't matter if you move away from Europe. If the WWIII were to come, this planet's magic - life, would end as we know it. Everywhere on this blue rock.

I will let this option open for someone else. No intentions of going banana in Florida, don't worry.

The property is not exempt from property taxes. The portion that houses their "principal residence" is entitled to a $50,000 homestead exemption and the agricultural part "may" qualify for reduced property taxes with a greenbelt exemption.
