![]() In some posts i've seen a "feeling" about super dwarf cavendish to be difficult, but without any more explanation/details. Is that true?
Has anybody succeded with SDC and had fruits? I already have a SDC, High color mini and dwarf Red. Are they all difficult , or only the SDC? If someone has cultivation tips, please let us know. My climate is mediterranean: mild wet winters - hot dry summers(with high humidity in the mornings). Now is going to be winter, and all plants are in pots, in a protected south facing veranta, and so far min temp was 12 deg Celsius (55 Fahrenheit). SDC is pushing a new leave in slow motion. High color mini seems a little faster. All the others are puting new leaves in normal speed. Nikos |

![]() They don't seem to be anything difficult as far as producing leaf growth. But, I have yet to see any pics or heard from someone who has had a bloom come all the way out and hang over as it should. Not to say that it is impossible. They are just very prone to "choking". Not sure if it is the SUPER Dwarf part of it with very tightly spaced petioles or just ultra sensativity to temp changes.
Maybe we can hear from some South Florida folks on this? Mike |

![]() They are possible to fruit without any problems, but the key it seems is to have them in constant tropical conditions without much change. Here are some pics I took in Miami this summer of SDC.

![]() Interesting pictures, Gabe. Although it still appears that the infructesence doesn't fully emerge, I suppose that's just the growth habit of SDC. So what would appear to be choking actually isn't.

![]() I noticed that too, on SDC a good bloom is when the bunch comes out horizontal, I suppose to its too stubby to really hang much, but when they try to have erect bunches is when they are choking, so a "normal" SDC bunch should be more or less horizontal which is on par with other SDC pictures I have seen.

![]() Gabe, that is exactly what I was looking for. I guess any bit of cold stress and they are sure to "come up short" on getting the bloom clear of the stem.
Southerngrower went at least 2 rounds with that in his greenhouse before throwing in the towel. Mike |

![]() Yes, but have you had one bloom yet? That is the issue at hand.
