Re: seeds & plants near Orlando FLA.
I hear that there's a large nursery in Ocala FL, North of there off of 75. But you'll have to look it up. If you feel like driving out to the East Coast of FL, there's a GREAT place for ANY plants called Rockledge Gardens. A Very beautiful place to go. You can go to their website, it's Rockledge Gardens I think. They're located in Rockledge FL (close to Cocoa, Cocoa Beach) a few miles off of 95 and 520.

Re: seeds & plants near Orlando FLA.
Yes, I would definately like to know how you enjoyed it there. My favorite thing to go see there is their Travelers Palm they have planted. I have been facinated by this plant for years now. The one they have is over 20 ft. tall. I was talking to one of the girls that works there about it and she gave me a baby that she cultivated from its' seeds. It's only about 8" high now, but in years to come it'll be worth it!!! Their butter fly garden just opened as well for the season and it's FILLED with many beautiful butterflies. It's like a small botanical gardens there. You could also call ahead if you had any special requests and they might be able to fill those for you before you get here. And if you want to talk plants with someone, go talk to Steve at the information desk and he'll talk to you all day long about any plant you want. LOL Tell him Josh sent you.
Brrrrr. it's cold tonight, we have a freeze warning out tonight here on FL's coast. I've got to go cover up some plants! Josh |

Re: seeds & plants near Orlando FLA.
Man, you know what stinks Stan, there was about 6-8 pups raning from 5-20 feet of the Travelers Palm (and more smaller ones), they chopped ALL of them down but the main plant! I was SOOOOOO mad because I would have just dug them up and seperated them myself!!! But the main plant is still beautiful to look at. And directly across the sidewalk from that is the Giant Bird of Paradise... I think it's just as tall as the Travelers, THEY DID THE SAME TO THAT ONE'S BABIES.... I couldn't believe it! Just killed them all but the main plants. So sad, but the employee did it (with the permission of the owner) before the other managers knew that it was going to be done or what could have been save would have... but they were HUGE. They did let it get way too over crowded and overgrown.
Who knows, maybe you will see me there. I only live 3 miles away! Be safe in your travels! |
