Default Small black wound at base

I've been having a problem with birds digging around the base of my ladyfinger, especially around the 2 tiny pups. I just noticed a small wound about the size of a dime near the base. The leaf above that area is fading and will die soon, the wound is very low and I am not sure what to do.
Thanks for any suggestions
Larry

How deep is the wound, and how large is the plant?

Its about 30"+ p-stem, overall about 5'. The wound is not through into the next leaf. I think a bird was digging at it, they get really desperate in the heat and will go after anything for food. Could I make a spray with some hot peppers to keep them away.
Thanks
Larry

Lot of moisture in the banana stem, are they looking for something to sate their thirst? Maybe a bowl of water might keep them from pecking on the plant.

Your plant should be fine since the wound wasn't deep.
