I have ordered several plantains in the past years and none of them have ever managed to stay alive. I still not able to give up ordered a plantain and a super plantain. Getting them they were 2 feet tall they managed to not only stay alive but grow like crazy. Living in Daytona Beach we were lucky enough to go 2 winters without a frost and they grew like crazy. The first plantain flowered and fruited only to look like a regular tall ornioco, that didn't even ripen the fruit. The second one, the super plantain did the same as the first, so I figured that they came from the same tray of [plants. I don't know if it is the TVC lab that is messing up or the nursery that is careless in their care for their plants all I know is, I will not buy from someone with a proven plant even if it cost more. It is worth to get what I want not a 2 year project that turns out to be a waste and major disappointment disappointment.

The super plantains are a french type of plantain. The fruit are typically smaller. I have fruited five different types of plantains and I have my 6th and 7th growing from TC. One thing I will say is that sometimes you will get shorter fruit if the fertilizer and water aren't adequate.

The "burns" might not be chemical in nature.
