TC Survival Hints?
Upon recommendations from someone here for my growing environment (containers indoors with only an 8 foot ceiling), I decided to try a couple of high color minis. I managed to find them cheap as TC plants. When I got them, I planted them, and followed the directions that came with them as closely as possible only to have them die on me within a couple of weeks. Does anyone have any hints on how to help TC plants survive should I decide to try TC plants again next year? Or, would you suggest sticking to more mature plants? (I got a couple of my plants from another member here as actual corms, and they both survived the post office's extra long transit time and crushing treatment with flying colors, and are both growing.) The whole TC thing was new to me, as my last experience with bananas was also bareroot corms and I had no problems with survival last time.
Thanks again, David Matz |

Re: TC Survival Hints?
I have purchased many tissue cultures and had 95% success with them. The two most important things, I think, are avoiding excess watering and keeping them warm, but not outdoors in the sun. A warm well-lit place in the house and moist soil till they settle in and begin to push new growth and size up a bit. I don't think anyne gets 100% with these - some are just weak plants to begin with, just like some seedlings from a batch of seed don't germinate, or are weak growers.
