Cold 'Tis the season for untimely blooms!

This plant I put in the ground in the spring of 2012, it was labeled Ice Cream. I'm pretty sure it's a Namwah.

This one was rather severely choked out by that creeping fig, so it only has about 6.5 feet of p-stem. I'm expecting a small bunch which might not make it through the winter. Hopefully the pup will yield better results next year now that the creeping fig is gone.

I hope the bunch makes it through the winter. Good luck!

If the plant is that short, you should be able to protect it with frost cloth if needed. I hope it does not end up like your Raja Puri last year. But congratulations on your inflorescence.

Congrats on the bloom, hopefully it goes ahead and fills in a bunch for you.

How tall have most people's Fake Ice Cream namwahs been at flowering? Have they been around 9' or so?

Mine looks like it's going to be blooming soon, but it's only around 6', so that would be really short compared to the other Fake Ice Creams I've read about. Mine is probably stunted, though, due to being transplanted 3 times and trimmed back a couple of times. Seeing that yours flowered at 6.5' makes me feel better about the chances that mine may indeed flower at such a low height.

Yikes, that's even bigger than I thought.

Maybe I lucked into getting a Dwarf Namwah instead of the taller beast. The petioles are the same length on my DN and my Fake IC, so maybe there's hope for that theory. Of course, maybe I'm just wrong about the Fake IC being near flowering...

It's also in a rather small space and planted 5' away from my Pisang Klotek. That's probably a factor in its small size. There used to be a Mysore there, but I pulled it because it had BSV and replaced it with the PK. I remember yours, Mark. It was huge, and my dad was in awe by how massive it was.
